Tequila Gran Tezcalama

OUR PROCESS

Gran Tezcalama Tequila honors with great respect the roots and the land from which we all come from.

An authentic tequila that connects us in every sip with the modest and basic elements of nature.

BLUE AGAVE

Gran Tezcalama Tequila is made with 100% blue agave from the Valley region of Jalisco, the cradle of tequila. Our jimadores harvest only mature agave with an age of 6 or more years, to provide its distinctive flavors and aromas.

COOKING

The blue agave piñas are naturally steam-cooked for up to 12 hours, in a stainless steel autoclave. Then, they are taken to the roller mill to extract the rich juice. We use 7 to 8 kilograms of agave to produce 1 liter of Gran Tezcalama Tequila.

FERMENTATION

The mosto (juice extracted from the cooked agave) is fermented in an open-air process for up to 48 hours to transform the sugars into alcohols.

DOUBLE

DISTILLED

After being fermented, the alcohols are turned into tequila through a double distillation. Mr. Jesús Correa the ‘maestro tequilero’ separate the heads and tales of the alcohol, keeping the best quality spirit for Gran Tezcalama.

AGING

Some of our premium Blanco goes to white oak barrels previously used for red wine, to get its unique notes of wood and caramel to create the Reposado and Añejo.

BOTTLING

The bottling, labeling and packaging processes are mainly handcrafted by the women of the community of Amatitán, Jalisco in order to support local families.
